I've posted my Planetstorm conversion rules for the Starship Troopers movie.  Brings back some good memories.

All this talk made me dig out some boxes of Vor the Malestrom

Ripe for Conversions there..
Neo Soviets
Growlers
Union
Shard

Large mix of troops there..from mutants to PI and a few walkers

I could be wrong but I think JP & I made up some variant Nightmares based on some figures from Vor... and a couple others too but I forget what they were now. The variant Nightmares had an armour modifer of +1 and carried a vibrosword instead of a nachtmacher. I still have the figures somewhere, I basically cut their left arms off [which held some kind of football shaped shield] and added the nightmare deadbolt launcher arm to it. JP, do you think you might still have the stats for that guy?

Those sound like Cybertronic Machinators from Warzone.

Anything is possible.  Finding it would be the trick. It wouldn't be electronic format, which would mean it would be written down on paper somewhere.

I have a pretty large chunk of AT-43 Therian figures that work perfect for Machines.  The Red Blok and UNE work really well for slightly lower tech human forces.  The less said about the Karmans the better IMHO.  Maybe if you are running an Uplift type game but otherwise...meh.

They come pre-assembled and pre-painted so are a pretty good deal if you just want to get to playing quickly with decent looking figs.

What AT-43 Therian would you use for the MK I Assault Fiend?

Dude! I think you're right - I can't find an image of the ones I have on the internet so I don't know for sure what they're called, but Warzone sounds about right!

Machinators are correct...The Pharon  were from Vor but very Egyptian/undead take on Robotics

In a sort of 'reverse' answer to the question...
... i'm planning a miniatures version (with some friends) using LoS figures as a kinda squad level version of Mass Effect - one of my all time favorite video games! The UNE troopers work well as Alliance and the Machines are obviously Geth. Mix in Infranites as well - the space combat is done with Firestorm Armada rules from Spartan press... incidently, the firestorm ships could be used for LoS fleet battles as well.

I'd like to get some "official" crossovers at one point.  That is why I want to move towards a generic, open game.

I am working on a Halo conversion now just to have some fun. UPV is really not an issue at this point. However some of the technology for the game is unusual and doesn't translate well.

I am looking for thoughts/creative ideas for several sections of the conversion.

Shields: The Spartans and the Covenant have force fields or shields that provide a certain level of ablative armor and yet will regenerate if you have enough time to rest/seek cover. I am not sure how to represent this. My thought was to have the shield represent a "rechargeable kill"

If a Kill is scored the shield goes away
If a wound is scored the damage normally associated would be ignored as the shield absorbs it
The shield gains back a "wound" at the end of the next activation. 2 Activations and the shield is fully charged.
If a fire action is spent the kill comes back?

The frame would look something like this (Planetstorm)
Spartan GM-1 Move 4 1 Kill +1Kill Rechargeable Shield

Thoughts?

I wouldn't stretch it so far. Remember a hit in LOS could mean quite a lot of firepower. I'd say it absorbs one kill, including any overkill, then you need to spend a fire action to get it back. That should force people to take cover?

That could work..You pretty much have to seek cover to let the shield charge up as it plays out in the game.
I may try to play the shields without the wound rules first and see how it goes and then get more detailed.
