I hereby petition his magnificence Clark: submit to the will of the people, by which I mean power-armoured octupoids, and rush this into immediate mass production:

Power-armoured psychic octopuses. YOU KNOW IT MAKES SENSE. Slorin - the thinking man's thinking cephalopod.

That's awesome.
Way back in the early eighties the games Melee, Wizard and The Fantasy Trip had Octopus as pretty much the most dangerous monster you could encounter because they could carry multiple weapons and shields. I've never been able to track down a suitable mini for them...they were literally just big octopus standing on two legs and using the remaining six to kick your a$$.

Ahh, and back in the day, me and Wes used to joke about Squiggle the octopus, his blue green laser and his ichorous war of vengeance against the Giant Squid of the abyssal depths...Seriously, though I always thought the Slorin would be space and atmo fighter crews, if we ever did SFB:LOS or Microarmour Planetstorm.

After playing LOS for many years we started to branch out and wanted to think about some of the other races mentioned in the books and give a little more variety to things.
Here are the really quick rules we made up for the SSlorin.
Slorin
Race mentioned in some of the LOS books.
Allied/part of the Black Empire.
Has psychic powers.
Social and physiological arrangement similar to GZG’s Phalons.
Moves 3/runs 6.
Never pays for turns.
Cover shots into the rear arc are at –1.
Units communicate through psychic connection so they have the Hive mind rule for reactions.
Leadership is shared amongst a group and need not be assigned to an individual. A unit has leadership equal to the number of troopers in the unit minus 1, up to a maximum of 2.
Weapons are Black Empire equivalents.
Unit of 3.
1 x Hvy Wpn Trooper Power field, Hvy Disentegrator
2 x Troopers Disentegrator, 2 Parallax Grenades
Also played with the idea of displaced shooting. The model may draw line of sight from any adjacent square. Simulating the ability to use the tentacle with weapon on the end. Still working out the play balance issues when I moved away. We had stopped worrying about points by this time and were just playing scenarios and storyline games so balance was a secondary issue.

SLO! RIN!
SLO! RIN!
SLO! RIN!
Who makes that fig and can we cut a deal with them?
-
Made from scratch and deals can be made :)
I need to upload pictures of the other one. I made three and have parts/pieces for about 6 more.

Like, scratch scratch, or by cannibalizing other figs and pieces?
-
Here is the assembly in progress. All parts but the gun were items from the craft store. Not sure if this counts as 'scratch scratch'. Stringing the beads on the tentacles was the most time consuming part of the whole thing. I liked the faceted top on these guys but the big dome was OK for the power field on the heavy gunner models so left it on them.

Well Yojimbo, I think you get first crack at giving this bad boy some statistics.

Nicely done.
