Scenario Maps
« on: April 12, 2011, 11:09:09 PM »
I am working on a way to use Excel to create LOS maps.  If someone can think of a more universal and accessible way, let me know.

We don't need complex graphic programs.

There may be simpler ways using dedicated gaming map-makers?

If you know of one that is royalty free, then lay it on us.  It just seems like everyone has access to Excel and building a map is simply a matter of cutting and pasting.

I found an excel spreadsheet that someone had made that actually made random maps based on the number of tiles you told it you had of each type.  Pretty amazing.  I tidied it up and made some cosmetic additions but it was pretty nifty.  [heads off to dig around in the archive]  Ah, there it is.  I could kind of tell what he was doing with the heavy stuff but not quite enough to start one from scratch.  Wish I could remember the website.

There was also a third party program called Tilesystem that worked really well for making maps. http://members.cox.net/shawnriordan/tilesystem.htm  Once I put all the tiles in it went really quick and made nice maps.  He released it as freeware as far as I can tell and still had the website up.
