Legions of Steel was actually one of the first miniatures games that I painted the figures for.
Not pictured is my first ever model (the Black Empire rocket launcher) which I painted in Red and Blue... He turned out incredibly clown looking.
For the BE models, I then moved to using metallic color paints in complimentary colours rather than contrasting colours. I think that was more successful

The "second
squad" models were done later and moved back to a contrasting colour scheme, but I had learned more about painting at that point and I think they blended pretty well.
Between those and my UNE, I still was working with basic palettes and solid patterns. The ones I have on my painting board right now have shadowing, inks and dry brushing techniques. If I ever finish them, I'll post some of those as well.
