Title: Halo Conversion - Continues
Post by: Scoutzout on May 22, 2011, 01:03:48 AM
I have been working on a Halo conversion for some time now and working on the minis as well

I decided I was going to use Mega Bloks since they have vehicles and everything. I based up and primed about 20 Spartans, Elites and 2 Hunters and will be doing some painting tomorrow.

A Hunter (no  Shield - the ones they come with are too small and I am making my own with plasticard) Hunters are on 60 mm bases

A couple of elites. These and Spartans will be on 40mm bases because the mega blocks are much larger than 25-30 MM

Some more of the mob (about a third of what I did)

These are looking very cool.  Curious how these will paint up.

Keep us up to date on the progress please.

WIP

Started work on the Spartans last night. Essentially some green paint, inking and building a unit out. Better than the color and paint they came with but nothing special. Camera Flash is washing them out a bit but they look pretty good for a simple paint job. I will work on highlights,  details, markings, flock etc. I am also painting some different color ones for deathmatch games (Red, blue Green, Pink etc)

Left Front - I created a Spartan with a chain gun so we can use the rule to detach the minigun and make it an objective to destroy or  use like in the video game. If one of the regularly armed men get to the emplacement, they can expend a fire action to "unlimber" the weapon or they can go to town with the stationary heavy weapon

Middle front is Rocket Launcher

Right Front is Sniper. The sniper rifle looks awkward when they are holding it so I am leaving them on their back.

Covenant forces will be 10 Elites and 12 Grunts and 2 Hunters. I don't know if I am going to do any Brutes because the mini scale is kinda lame..they should be bigger than the Spartans and Elites...

Not sure if I am going to paint the Covenant weapons...they look pretty cool and stand out. The human weapons are all getting a base black right now and

Looking good, Scoutzout! Are they of a similar scale to LoS? Looks like it.

Actually they are much larger than 25-30 mm scale minis. The Spartans here are on 40mm bases, as are the Covenant Elites. I have the Hunters on 60mm.

I am actually working on my own system but I have been converting these for both LoS and Warhammer

Scout, how are you making these again? You mentioned Mega Blocks in the top post - are these parts all available from a toy kit of some kind, or are you making custom models here?

Heya

Most of the Kits are readily available and the range is expanding

For example here is a kit I just picked up.
